No doubt Pokémon Go is unquestionably this season's hit mobile game. However there are early signs suggest it's already trailing off.
Bloomberg has published some charts which show daily users and engagement dropping. The data show that Pokémon Go peaking at around 45 million users in mid-July, during the week or following week after its launch. It then begins a decline to somewhere above 30 million daily users last week.
Well this is not a great news Niantic, the game creator, although it isn't a terrible news either. The apps and services typically measure their usage in monthly users, not daily users. Niantic was never going to be able to keep the Pokémon phenomenon as strong as it was around launch, but it's possible it'll be able to keep its numbers more stable on a month by month basis.
The decline of Pokemon GO's popularity could be a direct result of Niantic's decision to go after cheaters and botters.
In the other news, Pokemon GO app is expected to receive its new update. Android users will get the Version 0.35.0, while iOS owners will be to Version 1.5.0.
